The Challenge

Why CESR is harder than most doctors expect

The curriculum just changed

The GMC's new Group 1 and Group 2 framework introduced internal medicine dual-pathway requirements that most applicants don't know about. Many doctors are now applying against requirements that didn't exist when they started preparing.

No structured preparation exists

Current options are one-day webinars with no specialty depth and no assessor insight. No programme has ever been designed around the consultants who actually sit on the assessment panels.

Supervisor reports derail good applications

The most common reason for rejection is not poor clinical evidence — it is supervisor reports that do not address what Royal College assessors need to see. Most doctors brief their supervisors too late and too vaguely.
